Göran Lindsjöö’s interest in photography was awakened during his teens. In the early 1970s, at the age of 18, he started working professionally at the photography department of the Swedish Board of Civil Aviation. However, it wasn’t until a decade later that he started photographing artists. Everything began when he accompanied his sister, who was a journalist, to a Meat Loaf concert. “Bring your camera!” he was told. The pictures turned out well and were sold to the teen magazine Okej. This was the start of a collaboration that would last throughout the 1980s.
On behalf of Okej, Göran Lindsjöö photographed every Swedish artist that was popular at the time and virtually all of the international superstars who visited Sweden during this golden era for the magazine: Tina Turner, Ozzy Osbourne, Kylie Minogue, Depeche Mode, Bon Jovi, A-Ha, Van Halen, Iron Maiden and Metallica are just a few in a long list of names. “The heavy metal bands were generally very easy to work with, the synth groups were generally quite difficult,” says Göran. Many of the pictures were even published in foreign magazines, and his pictures of Alice Cooper and Robert Plant were used on record sleeves.
In the 1990s Göran Lindsjöö founded a production company, making commercials and music videos. Eventually he became a graphic designer, and today he mainly designs DVD covers
